In tumultuous economic times where projects are being abandoned due to their consumptive, unsustainable nature [see ‘The City That Never Was by Chris Marcinkoski], why is the default typology for shore projects a recreational waterfront?

BIOPIERS rejects the notion of the waterfront park by providing a productive algae industry in the waterfront; benefiting from its infrastructural proximity to I-95 and the navigable Delaware River.  Additionally, a ferry system mitigates commercial and public uses through both piers and provides an ‘invisible’ bridge to more easily, and directly, connect Philadelphia to Camden.
