ULI Urban Design Competition
Here are our boards for the recently completed the annual Urban Land Institute Student Urban Design Competition which is a strong tradition here at PennDesign. This year’s prompt took place in Houston, Texas.
This competition was exciting as it addressed the many driving forces shaping the urban environment; architecture, landscape architecture, urbanism, planning and policy. The teams are formed of 5 interdisciplinary students, ours was composed of Mike Ruane (MCP), Anne Leslie (MCP), Dave Dobkin (MCP + our real estate guy), Eric De Feo (M.Arch) and myself Eduardo Santamaria (MLA/M.Arch).
Our project dealt with how a new ecological infrastructure can not only serve as an amenity for a new development but actually shape and inform urban environments. The big issues that [IN]Filtrate addresses are storm water management, wetland ecologies, pedestrian mobility and cooling micro climates.
